Our assessments examine whether conformity assessment bodies have the systems, people and processes needed to carry out certification activities competently and in accordance with applicable accreditation and scheme requirements
We conduct a range of assessments
throughout the accreditation cycle to evaluate and monitor competence and conformity with applicable requirements.
Initial accreditation assessments
Before accreditation is granted, we assess each conformity assessment body through a combination of desk review, office and witness assessment. This helps us evaluate the conformity assessment body’s management system, competence, impartiality and ability to meet applicable accreditation requirements.
Ongoing surveillance
We monitor each conformity assessment body throughout the accreditation cycle. Surveillance may include office, witness and compliance assessments, as well as desk reviews and other verification activities.
Risk-based and extra assessments
We may conduct additional or unannounced assessments where needed. We do this to investigate complaints, follow up on previous assessment outcomes, address specific risks or evaluate the competence and integrity of affiliate offices or subcontractors.
Every assessment is shaped by
Risk-based approach: We use assessment results, complaints, and other identified risks to inform the scope and intensity of our accreditation activities.
Consistency and credibility: Our assessments follow defined accreditation requirements and procedures to support consistent and rigorous evaluation of conformity assessment body competence.
Global reach: ASI Accreditation provides accreditation services globally, working with conformity assessment bodies across a range of sustainability sectors and regions.
Ongoing monitoring: Accreditation is monitored throughout the accreditation cycle through office, witness, compliance, and other assessments as appropriate.
