Implementation of the ASI Two-Tier Assurance Program is underway

Implementation of the ASI Two-Tier program commences for all CABs with accredited offices outside of the EEA and the UK, beginning on 15th June 2022.

ASI is happy to inform you that it will initiate the implementation of its Two-Tier Assurance Program (TTAP) on 15 June 2022 for all Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) with an ASI accredited office located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK.

The TTAP has been developed in response to European Regulation (EC) No. 765/2008 and will allow ASI business partners to continue providing certification services without interruption and in full accordance with applicable legal requirements. The implementation of the ASI TTAP will combine formal accreditation provided by a participating Accreditation Body (Tier One) with complementary assurance services provided by ASI (Tier Two).

CABs with their Head Office based outside of the EEA/UK are asked to transition to ASI’s sister company, ASI North America PB LLC (ASI NA), in North Bethesda, MD, USA (www.asi-na.org), commencing on the 15th of June 2022. CABs in the EEA or UK will transition step by step to participating National Accreditation Bodies (NABs) in Europe. This process is near conclusion for German CABs under participation with DAkkS. Due notice will be given when this transition is available in other EEA countries and in the UK.

ASI NA will follow the same transfer procedure as participating NABs in the EEA/UK, supporting a level playing field for all CABs regardless of their location. All CABs with accredited offices outside of the EEA/UK will be required to transition their accreditation to ASI NA by 15 December 2022. This process will follow a simplified accreditation transfer from ASI GmbH in Germany to ASI NA in the USA.

All CABs will be contacted on an individual basis to provide them with detailed information regarding the ASI transfer procedure.

We look forward to implementing the TTAP across the globe and to our continued cooperation with the Scheme Owners and CABs we work with.
